Timeless Vietnam
The experience
This itinerary highlights some of our most-loved adventure experiences, but it’s entirely customisable. Prefer a greater challenge? A gentler pace? More cycling or more hiking? Tell us your style, and we’ll craft it for you
Day 1-2: Hanoi
While this journey celebrates Vietnam’s countryside, a city stop can be just as rewarding. Our preferred introduction to the capital steps off the tourist track and into the authentic heart of Hanoi. Begin in the maze-like lanes of the Old Quarter, pause at a striking Gothic Revival cathedral, and meet a family who has called the same French-colonial home theirs for generations. Stroll along a mural-lined street, then join locals on a short, lively train ride. This is not your typical city tour—it’s a window into the rhythms, traditions, and character that make Hanoi truly unique
Day 3-4: Pu Luong
Imagine terraces of emerald rice paddies cascading down mountainsides, wrapping around stilted villages like gentle waves, framed by lush forested peaks—that’s Pu Luong. With a local guide as your navigator, interpreter, and storyteller, you’ll uncover the region’s beauty on two distinct treks, each revealing a different facet of its charm. Stroll through rice fields to discover age-old farming traditions, step inside a cottage workshop where vibrant textiles are handwoven, and visit minority villages to learn the craft of rice wine making. Your days end in a boutique eco-retreat, complete with an infinity pool and spa—where nature and comfort meet in perfect harmony
Day 5-6: Ninh Binh
Cuc Phuong (Ninh Binh) remains one of Vietnam’s last true wildernesses—a dense, untouched rainforest offering a trekking experience unlike the terraced hills of Pu Luong. On a guided hike, you’ll step beneath its emerald canopy, where the air hums with life. While sightings of large mammals are rare, a visit to the Primate Rescue Centre brings you face-to-face with gibbons, langurs, and lorises preparing for their return to the wild. Just 40 minutes away, the landscape transforms again in Ninh Binh, where jagged karst peaks rise from winding rivers, dotted with temples, farms, and villages. Discover its beauty by bike, on foot, and by sampan, following your guide along hidden trails and to panoramic viewpoints few visitors ever see
Day 7-8: Lan Ha Bay
Halong Bay’s towering limestone pinnacles are world-famous—but its quieter neighbour, Lan Ha Bay, offers the same breathtaking beauty without the crowds. This is our secret escape. On an overnight cruise, watch the sun dip behind the karst peaks from the top deck—cocktail in hand—before the bay settles into a tranquil hush. While this is the perfect moment to slow down and simply absorb the scenery, a wealth of experiences awaits: paddle a kayak to hidden islets, visit floating markets and pearl farms, or greet the day with t’ai chi on deck as the first light spills over the water
Day 9: Ho Chi Minh City
After more than a week immersed in Vietnam’s countryside, your journey shifts to the vibrant energy of Ho Chi Minh City. This sprawling metropolis can be dizzying at first glance, but our curated tour reveals the everyday life unfolding in its shadows and side streets. Behind the façades of tall buildings, families run shops from their homes, small temples honour the five Mother Goddesses, and street vendors conjure up sizzling delicacies. Markets erupt in a symphony of scents, colours, and sounds—village traditions thriving in an urban setting. It’s an intimate portrait of the city’s living culture, and a vivid contrast to the grand colonial architecture and storied wartime landmarks it’s known for
Day 10-13: Mekong Delta
We promised this journey would be rooted in the countryside—so it’s only fitting to end it far from the city. Your finale unfolds at Mekong Home, a charming traditional-style lodge set deep in the Mekong Delta. This lush, vibrant region thrives on the intricate web of waterways weaving between rice paddies, coconut groves, and stilted villages. With the help of our local friends, you’ll immerse yourself in its culture—meeting families, visiting artisan workshops, browsing floating markets, and cycling through fertile farmland. Evenings are spent in thatched-roof villas beside the water, where the pace slows and your final nights in Vietnam feel timeless
